Because of the low heat output and low running costs, CFL's have become a popular alternative to HID lighting. They are available in blue and red spectrum making them suitable for growing and flowering plants. Compact Fluorescent Lamps are self ballasted. This means that you don't need a power pack or ballast to run them. All you need to do is screw them in to a CFL Lead & Lampholder or CFL Reflector and plug them in to the wall.
